Power 107 Fiasco
Here in Calgary, we have a fairly mediocre Top 40 radio station called Power 107. This past week, the afternoon show has been jockeyed by a DJ called Maz McFly. Mr. McNugget apparently decided that just the thing to spice up his little fill-in gig was a Trivia contest. So he borrowed a trivia question that took San Diego listeners 6 months to answer correctly/ The question was: "What is the first thing you know?" Ostensibly, it refers to the first piece of knowledge possessed after conception or birth, but it's trick question. Being the clever little devil that I am, I used the Bigfoot e-mail search engine to find some people in San Diego, and I got the answer from the delightful
Kathryn Thompson. The answer:"Old Jed's a millionaire".
I was amused by the answer and immediately called into the station to claim my prize and all the glory reserved for radio trivia masters. I was denied by Mr. McDogfucker, however, who claimed that several other people had called in with the correct answer, and he was just keeping the contest going for some fun.
Jessica spoke with another DJ, the handsome and talented Woodman, about this travesty, and he took it upon himself to award her and I a $25 gift-certificate for The Keg. But I was not satiated by a simple prize! Why was this DJ, Maz McChildmolester lying to the public about his contest?
Determined to find out, I sent of this nasty fax to Rob Mise, program director at Power. In response, I received a call from the illustrious Mr. McCumbucket who, sounding freshly chastised, meekly apologized, and tried to explain that no harm was intended, and there was no malicious intent to his brutal and bald-faced dishonesty.
